Caring for parents affects career and personal life, more often impacting women
Nearly half of Czech adults aged 35 to 64 with dependent children and elderly parents provide personal care to their parents, averaging 18 hours monthly. Many caregivers also offer financial support, impacting their careers and personal lives, especially among women. The sandwich generation, comprising 38% of this age group, often faces challenges balancing caregiving and work, with significant negative effects reported on their health and finances. A recent survey highlights these issues, revealing that caregiving responsibilities disproportionately affect women, leading to career interruptions and health concerns.
