Workers in public collections protested again in Pécs demanding a pay rise
On Monday afternoon in Pécs, museum and cultural workers protested for fair wages and better working conditions. Organized by the Janus Pannonius Museum staff and the KKDSZ union, this was the second demonstration following a previous protest in Budapest. The KKDSZ highlighted that average salaries barely exceed the minimum wage and criticized the government's proposed 10.7% raise as insufficient. Lilla Oberling-Jeles, a union representative, pointed out that museum workers earn an average net salary of only 280,000 HUF and called for a significant wage increase. She also addressed poor working conditions, including outdated equipment and infrastructure issues. KKDSZ president Dobrovits Orsolya condemned the government's lack of dialogue with cultural workers, emphasizing their urgent need for recognition and support.
