Pentagon watchdog rejects bipartisan plea to investigate Starlink disruption, AP reports
The Pentagon's watchdog declined a bipartisan request from U.S. lawmakers to investigate disruptions in Starlink services to Ukraine. A group of nine senators had urged an investigation into whether the Department of Defense or its contractors were involved in these issues. The Inspector General suggested lawmakers address their concerns to the U.S. Air Force instead. Senator Jeanne Shaheen expressed concern over the response, highlighting conflicting accounts from the Trump Administration and SpaceX regarding the disruptions. The issues arose when SpaceX imposed a speed cap on Ukraine's Starshield service amid rising tensions between Kyiv and Washington. Reports indicate that Elon Musk discussed restricting Starlink speeds with Trump, who later ordered Musk to lift the restrictions.
