Five EU countries want to send immigrants to Rwanda. Negotiations in the final stretch
Austria, Denmark, Greece, the Netherlands, and Germany are negotiating with Rwanda to establish a center for deported migrants from the EU. If successful, deportations could begin in 2027. The project aims to increase deportations of rejected asylum seekers and deter future migrants. However, it faces criticism, including from French President Emmanuel Macron, who argues it contradicts European values. A similar UK-Rwanda project was abandoned due to legal challenges.
