He honked five times, and the drivers kept going. Recording from the driver's cabin
On September 28, a dangerous situation occurred at a railway crossing near Połupin, Poland, when a POLREGIO train approached. The train driver noticed that drivers were ignoring the STOP sign and activated the warning signal multiple times. Despite this, a bus driver crossed the tracks just before the train, prompting the driver to initiate emergency braking. Authorities remind that the STOP sign indicates a mandatory stop, and drivers must ensure it is safe to proceed. Ignoring crossing signals can lead to severe penalties, including fines up to 4,000 PLN for repeat offenders and a three-month license suspension. Statistics show that 99% of accidents at crossings are caused by drivers, often due to ignoring signals. Since the beginning of the year, there have been 130 accidents at crossings, resulting in 34 fatalities and 18 serious injuries.
