The first president of the Supreme Court on the situation around the Constitutional Tribunal: utmost outrage and firm opposition

Zbigniew Kapiński, the First President of the Supreme Court, expressed strong opposition to actions undermining the independence of the Constitutional Tribunal in Poland. He emphasized that the boundaries of governmental authority are defined by the Constitution and laws, not by political decisions or force. Kapiński condemned the police's involvement in restricting the Tribunal's operations, labeling it a dangerous precedent that threatens the foundations of democracy. He criticized the obstruction of the Tribunal's Vice President, Bartłomiej Sochański, from entering the building and the issuance of a document halting the Tribunal's activities. Kapiński asserted that legal disputes should be resolved through constitutional means, not through coercive actions by law enforcement. Meanwhile, President Karol Nawrocki returned to Poland to address the situation.
