A bus driver who ran over a pedestrian on Piros Street received an eight-month ban.

A driver of a scheduled bus was sentenced to a fine and banned from driving category D vehicles after running a red light and hitting a pedestrian two years ago. The Debrecen District Court found the 66-year-old guilty of causing a traffic accident through negligence, imposing a fine of 320,000 HUF and an 8-month driving ban. The second-instance court upheld the fine but specified that the driving ban applies only to category D vehicles. The incident occurred on November 4, 2024, when the driver entered an intersection against a red light, striking a 62-year-old man crossing at a zebra crossing, who sustained serious injuries.
