PJ detains in Braga alleged scammer wanted by Vietnam

The Judicial Police (PJ) arrested a 56-year-old foreign man in Braga, wanted by Vietnam for fraud. He had been evading justice for seven years and had been living in Portugal since 2019. The suspect allegedly embezzled around 20 million euros from a Vietnamese bank and fled after the crime. In Vietnam, the penalty for such fraud can reach 20 years in prison. His nationality has not been disclosed, and he is now subject to periodic reporting to law enforcement after a court hearing.
