PJ signals video games and extremist content online to radicalize youth

The Portuguese Judicial Police (PJ) identified 54 online gaming addresses linked to extremist content, potentially radicalizing youth. In a coordinated operation with Europol, over 9,000 links to violent and terrorist content were flagged across various online gaming platforms. The investigation revealed connections to violent extremism, including jihadist and far-right ideologies. Notably, content related to the True Crime Community was found, simulating terrorist attacks in games. The PJ emphasized the importance of identifying such content to prevent the spread of extremist propaganda and recruitment efforts targeting minors. This initiative aligns with the EU's broader strategy to combat online radicalization.
