Faro's flood plan receives 85% co-financing from the EU
The urban flood mitigation plan presented by Faro's City Hall, costing 15 million euros, will receive 85% co-financing from the Sustainable 2030 program. Environment Minister Maria da Graça Carvalho emphasized the importance of a technical collaboration protocol signed with the Portuguese Environment Agency to expedite funding applications. The plan aims to address flooding issues, particularly in São Luís, where significant floods occurred last year. The project will be executed in two phases, with the first phase costing 10 million euros and focusing on drainage connections. The second phase will integrate with a park project near Ribeira das Lavadeiras, aiming to alleviate flooding and support local businesses.
