Half a million in grants, training in Sicily, and six accused

Six individuals, including union members and a university employee, are accused of fraud related to EU funds for a training trip to Sicily in 2017. The investigation revealed that false documentation was submitted, claiming participation of eligible individuals, while actual attendees included friends and family of union officials. Prosecutors gathered extensive evidence, interviewing 482 witnesses and determining that 541,000 PLN was fraudulently obtained. Six suspects face 33 charges, including fraud and document forgery. Some have admitted guilt, while others deny the accusations. They will be tried while free, with assets worth over half a million PLN secured by prosecutors. Convictions could lead to up to 12 years in prison.
