Will double envelopes change the election outcome? There were hundreds of thousands of them.
Double envelopes are a voting method used primarily by soldiers, reservists, and others unable to vote at their designated polling places. Voters place their ballot in a second envelope with personal details, which is then verified by the Central Election Commission to prevent double voting. This year, a record 650,000 double envelopes are expected due to a high number of mobilized reservists, potentially impacting election results significantly. Current projections show Prime Minister Netanyahu's bloc with 55 seats and his rival Gadi Eisenkot's bloc with 49, neither achieving a majority. Negotiations for a new government may take weeks, with the possibility of a minority government or further elections if no majority is formed.
