Tax increases on beverages. Not just on alcohol. What will the president do about it?
Recent tax legislation in Poland will increase excise duties on alcoholic beverages and sugary drinks, impacting prices significantly. The excise tax on spirits will rise from 8,811 PLN to 10,109 PLN per hectoliter starting January 1, 2027. Beer and wine will also see price increases, with beer's excise tax going from 12.04 PLN to 13.82 PLN. Additionally, the sugar tax on sweetened beverages will increase, with the fixed fee rising from 0.50 PLN to 0.70 PLN per 100 ml. VAT on non-alcoholic drinks will be raised to 23%, affecting energy drinks and those with fruit juice content. The government aims to discourage consumption and increase funding for health initiatives through these measures.
