Poles are waking up. They are asking Google to remove them from the internet. Experts: Brzoski Effect

The use of the EU's right to be forgotten is increasing in Poland, with a notable rise in requests to Google for content removal. From January to October, there were 246,600 requests, with Polish requests growing by 30% compared to 2019. This surge is attributed to heightened awareness among internet users, particularly following campaigns against deepfakes led by figures like Rafał Brzoska. Experts note that the acceptance rate for Polish requests has improved significantly. However, the majority of requests come from private individuals rather than public figures. Calls for new regulations to protect reputations in the age of AI are growing, emphasizing the need for quicker responses to misinformation without lengthy legal battles.
