Poland: Historical Evidence of Nazi Crimes Handed Over

Documents belonging to victims of the Nazi regime were handed over to memorials and museums in Poland and Europe after a planned auction was canceled. Polish Culture Minister Marta Cienkowska emphasized the historical significance of this event, highlighting the emotional weight of the documents, which include personal letters and items from Holocaust victims. The auction, which had sparked outrage in Poland and Germany, was halted following calls from various organizations and officials. A proposed law in Germany aims to ban the commercial trade of such documents, with discussions for a broader European ban underway. The documents were purchased by the Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation and distributed to 18 institutions across several countries.
