Coast Guard rescues 42 migrants off Greek island

The Maritime Police rescued 42 migrants off the coast of Gavdos, Greece, as part of the "Joint Operation Greece 2026". The operation began early in the morning after receiving information about an inflatable boat. All rescued individuals were male, aged between 18 and 35, and appeared to be in good health. They were transported to Karaves port with the assistance of the Greek Coast Guard. This operation is part of a coordinated effort by Frontex to monitor EU external borders and conduct maritime rescue missions, following a previous rescue of 44 migrants in October.
