Police zone Lanaken-Maasmechelen takes new headquarters into use in Grote Burelen

The Lanaken-Maasmechelen police zone has officially opened its new headquarters in the historic 'Grote Burelen' building, centralizing various police services. The building, dating back to 1911, replaces outdated offices and retains its monumental character after renovation. It houses emergency services, neighborhood teams, and administrative support. A modern entrance has been added, along with facilities for detainees and a parking garage. Mayor Marino Keulen praised the new facility as state-of-the-art, while police operations will continue in Lanaken for rapid response to emergencies. Full relocation is expected by the end of November.
