Zennevallei police zone again prohibits possession of fireworks during the year-end period

The Zennevallei police zone reiterates that possessing or transporting fireworks is prohibited during the year-end period, with penalties including fines or community service. This ban, in place for several years, was expanded last year to include possession, leading to 22 violations reported in 2022. Mayor Eva Demesmaeker highlighted the dangers of fireworks, including injuries and panic among animals. Police chief Mark Crispel emphasized that banning possession increases the likelihood of catching offenders. The ban is effective from December 15 to January 15, with enforcement actions planned.
