The former prosecutor spoke before parliament about politically influenced chief prosecutor's instructions and intelligence agency meddling.
During a parliamentary hearing, former head of the Central Investigative Prosecutor's Office, Pál Fürcht, confirmed receiving politically influenced instructions regarding the Völner-Schadl case. He recounted a conversation with General Szilvia Tomin, who conveyed that orders from higher authorities mandated the closure of the investigation into Völner Pál, a former deputy justice minister. Despite this pressure, Fürcht and Tomin decided to consult with the then chief prosecutor, Ibolya Tibor, leading to the eventual initiation of the investigation. The Völner-Schadl case involves allegations of bribery and corruption linked to the appointment of enforcement officers, with significant sums of money exchanged. The investigation was inadvertently triggered by wiretaps in an unrelated case.
