Polish detectors measured radiation near the Moon. Surprising results
The MARE experiment aboard the Orion capsule aimed to assess radiation exposure for astronauts beyond Earth's magnetosphere. Results showed radiation levels higher than in low Earth orbit but lower than expected, likely due to the absence of low-energy protons near the Moon. Galactic cosmic radiation was found to be more evenly distributed than on low orbits. Polish detectors, including lithium fluoride crystals, recorded particle traces, aiding in future crewed missions' safety preparations.
