Tolls are expected to increase by 3.8% in 2027

Tolls on highways are expected to rise by 3.82% in 2027, based on the inflation rate excluding housing. This increase follows a formula established in a 1997 decree-law, which ties toll adjustments to the inflation rate reported by INE. The provisional inflation rate for October was 3.72%, with a final figure to be confirmed on November 11. Additionally, a 0.1% increase is included as compensation to highway concessionaires due to a previous agreement limiting toll hikes in 2023. This agreement was made after inflation exceeded 10% in 2022, resulting in a negotiated toll increase of 4.9% for 2023, with part of the increase covered by the state.
