Portugal among 12 EU countries that will release 42.6 million barrels of oil

Twelve EU countries, including Portugal, will release 42.6 million barrels of oil from strategic reserves to stabilize diesel markets amid rising energy prices. This decision follows a G7 commitment to alleviate fuel price pressures, with 20.5 million barrels being diesel. The European Commissioner for Energy, Dan Jørgensen, emphasized the need for market stabilization as winter approaches. In Portugal, the oil companies' association reassured that there are no imminent supply risks despite geopolitical uncertainties. The EU remains vigilant about the crisis's impact on household budgets but currently sees no supply security issues. Other participating countries include Germany, France, and Italy.
