Portugal aims for 50 million tourists by 2035
Portugal is projected to attract 50 million international tourists and generate over 53 billion euros in revenue by 2035, according to the Secretary of State for Tourism. Pedro Machado announced this during a congress in Lagoa, highlighting the approved Tourism Strategy 2035 aimed at enhancing regional development and correcting disparities. He noted that by 2026, the country is expected to exceed 30 million international tourists and 30 billion euros in revenue. Despite a decrease in tourism investment in the 2027 State Budget, Machado emphasized a political decision to strengthen support through Turismo de Portugal, with total aid expected to reach around 30 million euros in 2027. The congress focuses on the intersection of intuition and algorithms in tourism.
