Portugal recorded 19 cases of measles this year, nine since October
Portugal reported 19 measles cases this year, with nine identified since October 6 in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region. The cases include a baby, and none are currently hospitalized. Of the nine cases, three are imported and unvaccinated, while six are secondary cases linked to the imported ones. The Directorate-General of Health (DGS) emphasizes the importance of vaccination and monitoring contacts of confirmed cases. Vaccination coverage is crucial for protecting vulnerable populations. The DGS encourages individuals to check their vaccination status and get vaccinated if necessary, as measles vaccination is part of the National Vaccination Program.
