Portugal will miss EU glass recycling target

Portugal will not meet the EU recycling target for glass packaging this year, as acknowledged by Ana Trigo Morais, CEO of Sociedade Ponto Verde. The shortfall is attributed to insufficient investment in collection systems, particularly in sectors like hospitality that generate significant glass waste. The Ambilital company, which manages waste in several municipalities, has made substantial investments and increased its workforce to improve recycling efforts. They aim to achieve a recycling rate of 55% for urban waste by 2030, alongside reducing landfill disposal to below 10%.
