Pósfai on police salary increase: "15 percent is a huge effort on the part of the country"
Hungarian Interior Minister Gábor Pósfai announced a 15% salary increase for over 80,000 interior workers, addressing concerns about the current economic situation. The increase varies, exceeding 20% for lower salary levels and reaching 13% for higher positions. Additionally, the base salary will rise by 10%, marking the first adjustment since 2008. The minister emphasized that this increase aims to address long-standing issues in the sector, including a new preferred organizational allowance for police in high-demand areas. Despite criticism from unions for insufficient raises, Pósfai defended the measures as a significant step towards improvement.
