The inauguration of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Vice President Geraldo Alckmin will take place on January 5, 2027, instead of January 1. This change, established by Constitutional Amendment No. 111, allows elected governors to attend the presidential inauguration in Brasília, which previously coincided with their own inauguration. The inauguration ceremony includes a traditional parade and a reception at the Congress. Meanwhile, the inauguration date for new senators and deputies remains February 1, when they take their oath without speeches and elect the leadership for the next two years.
