US Postal Service lost 126 million due to counterfeit stamps from a man in Pakistan
Faheem Akram, a 33-year-old, was arrested in Pakistan after a lengthy search for allegedly managing the fraudulent website LabelsBank, selling fake shipping labels and stamps in the US. He reportedly sold over 5.1 million counterfeit items to more than 5,000 customers, allowing them to send packages at significantly reduced rates. Akram was charged with fraud in September, and a reward of up to $100,000 was offered for information leading to his capture. He faces potential prison sentences of up to five years for forgery and up to twenty years for internet fraud, with the jurisdiction of his trial still undecided.
