PostNL sees that Dutch people are ordering many fewer packages from abroad

Since July 1, Dutch consumers pay 3 euros for purchases from non-EU webshops, aimed at reducing the appeal of the Chinese market. PostNL reports a decrease in package flow but increased revenue per package. CEO Pim Berendsen is pleased with the results. A significant change in the third quarter is the standard delivery time of two days instead of one, necessary to manage costs amid declining mail volumes. The number of letters decreased by 3.6% compared to last year. PostNL is seeking an 80 million euro government contribution to cover the costs of mandatory mail delivery.
