For All Saints' Day, Laurent Nuñez calls for strengthening security at places of worship and Christian cemeteries

French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez has urged prefects to enhance security measures for places of worship and Christian cemeteries during All Saints' Day and the commemoration of the dead. In a telegram, he noted a 9% increase in anti-Christian acts in 2025, with 843 incidents reported, primarily affecting the Catholic faith. Most of these acts, 87%, involved property damage. From January to August 2026, 605 anti-Christian incidents were recorded, marking a 3% rise from the same period in 2025 and a 21% increase from 2024. Nuñez emphasized the high level of terrorist threat and rising international tensions, necessitating heightened vigilance at religious sites.
