Serious changes before the elections in Poland? The National Electoral Commission raises the alarm and writes to the Speaker of the Sejm
The National Electoral Commission (PKW) has highlighted that the current electoral district division violates electoral law, necessitating changes in the number of representatives per district. Proposed adjustments include increasing the number of MPs in the Warsaw II district from 12 to 15 and in Wrocław from 14 to 16. The PKW emphasized the need for these changes to ensure equal representation, citing demographic shifts since 2011. Additionally, the commission suggested reforms for the Senate elections, noting discrepancies in senator representation across provinces. President Karol Nawrocki vetoed a recent electoral code amendment, arguing that significant changes should not occur without thorough analysis and should not provoke social unrest just before elections. The amendment aimed to clarify the distribution of mandates and adjust voting district creation rules.
