Nearly a billion in funding for the Orlen project
Orlen's Atlas project aims to establish a CO2 transport and storage network on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, supported by a €223 million EU grant. The project, operated by Aker BP, will involve injecting CO2 into geological formations 2,000 meters below the North Sea. The initiative is expected to begin CO2 injection in 2031, with a capacity of 6 million tons annually, potentially increasing to 10 million tons. The project was selected among 77 for EU funding, highlighting its innovative approach to emission reduction.
