Toll prices accelerate to a rise of 3.82% after inflation estimate
The toll prices on Portuguese highways are set to increase by 3.82% in early 2027, based on the latest inflation estimate from INE. This adjustment follows the consumer price index excluding housing, which was reported at 3.72% for October. Additionally, a contractual bonus of 0.1% will be added to the toll rates. The annual price update is governed by a decree that links toll changes to inflation rates. The government previously intervened to limit toll increases in 2023, negotiating a maximum rise of 4.9% due to high inflation. This agreement allows for a 0.1% increase in subsequent years, contributing to a consistent upward trend in toll prices.
