More exercises for the protection of critical infrastructure, Prague is building a network of volunteers
This week, rescue teams conducted a drill at the Nelahozeves oil depot as part of the MERO 2026 exercise, focusing on protecting critical infrastructure. Regular exercises involve firefighters, police, medical personnel, and the military, responding to increased security threats and a new law on critical infrastructure. The definition of critical infrastructure now includes essential services across twelve sectors, requiring entities to assess risks and develop resilience plans. Prague is building a network of crisis volunteers in collaboration with the Czech Red Cross to assist during emergencies, with nearly 1,500 volunteers registered and 250 undergoing special training.
