The first Black Hawk helicopter arrived in Tancos

The first UH-60L Black Hawk helicopter of the Portuguese Army has arrived at Tancos Military Aerodrome, awaiting certification to begin operations. Three more helicopters are expected by 2028. The aircraft was transported from Florida and is in the final acceptance phase. Qualified personnel are already in place, with ongoing training for additional staff. The program includes four helicopters, enhancing the Army's aviation capabilities for tactical transport, military operations, and medical evacuation. The investment is around 40 million euros, part of a broader modernization effort. The Tancos facility is being adapted to support these operations, with improvements to hangars and maintenance areas.
