Problem with RCB alerts. People with disabilities list obstacles and complexities
In Poland, over 5 million people with disabilities receive emergency SMS alerts, but many struggle to understand them. Experts highlight that the language used is often too technical and abstract, making it difficult for individuals with cognitive challenges to comprehend the messages. There is a lack of clear instructions on what actions to take upon receiving alerts, particularly concerning safety during potential threats. The need for better coordination and accessibility in emergency communication has been emphasized, especially following past crises like floods. The government is currently consulting with disability advocates to improve the clarity and effectiveness of these alerts.
