Trial against Radja Nainggolan and 15 other suspects starts today

The trial regarding an international drug trafficking case begins in Brussels, involving 16 individuals, including footballer Radja Nainggolan and Nasr-Eddine Sekkaki. They are not suspected of drug trafficking. The investigation focuses on cocaine importation from South America to Europe via Antwerp. It started in 2023 after police received tips about a Turkish individual in Mechelen. The investigation led to 30 searches and 18 arrests, uncovering significant amounts of cash, luxury watches, and drugs. Nainggolan is implicated for receiving over €100,000 from Sekkaki, which he initially claimed was a loan out of goodwill, later admitting it was due to financial issues from a divorce. He faces charges related to concealing criminal assets, while others face more serious drug-related charges.
