Project to deforest 347 hectares in Sines under consultation
A aicep Global Parques plans to deforest 347.62 hectares in the Sines Industrial and Logistics Zone for new industrial units, currently under public consultation. The project, covering a total of 443 hectares, is subject to Environmental Impact Assessment due to its scale. The deforestation will occur in four phases, with specific areas designated for each phase to minimize premature deforestation. The area includes 3,593 cork oaks, with measures in place to protect and compensate for the loss of vegetation. The project aims to mitigate negative impacts such as soil erosion and habitat disturbance through reforestation efforts. The Environmental Impact Assessment focuses solely on deforestation activities, while future industrial developments will undergo separate evaluations.
