President's speech: Democracy is not forever, we must set aside comfort and prepare for risks

President Petr Pavel emphasized the importance of individual responsibility for the future of the Czech Republic during his speech on October 28. He expressed concern that society is shirking this responsibility and ignoring potential crises. Pavel criticized the lack of courage in politics to address unpopular yet crucial issues, particularly regarding security, public finances, and environmental concerns. He urged the government and lawmakers to prepare for future challenges and to communicate the necessity of proactive measures to citizens.
