Amendments to the VAT Code and Special Taxes Promulgated

The President of Portugal, António José Seguro, has enacted a law modifying the VAT and Special Consumption Taxes codes. This law expands the taxation regime for liquid fuel resellers and enhances the traceability and control of the national petroleum system. However, concerns were raised regarding the government's compliance with EU procedural requirements for introducing special derogatory measures. The President emphasized that the government committed to submitting a request for authorization to the European Commission before implementing these measures.
