Protest marches underway in French cities, participants fully dressed up
Protests continue in numerous French cities for the third consecutive weekend, with significant demonstrations in Paris, Lyon, and Marseille. Authorities report manageable situations despite several arrests. Due to fears of unrest, tens of thousands of police are deployed, and a protest march in central Paris is banned, redirecting demonstrators to suburban routes. Approximately 15,000 protesters participated, coinciding with Halloween-themed demonstrations. Participants express grievances over rising living costs, police violence, and racism, particularly following a recent racially motivated attack. Solidarity protests are also occurring in Germany, with around 6,000 participants across various cities. In the Netherlands, minor incidents led to a few arrests, but no large-scale protests are reported.
