Protests continue in Évora on Saturday and the 30th

A group advocating for more housing in Évora has planned additional protests for Saturday and the 30th, moving to Praça do Giraldo. These decisions were made during a public assembly held in front of the city hall. The assembly concluded with the singing of a popular song and messages of support sent to similar protests in Lisbon and Porto. The protests, which began in Porto on October 10, have spread to other cities following the parliamentary approval of a new rental law. Demonstrators are calling for measures to address the housing crisis, control essential goods prices, and impose taxes on large corporate profits. Recent protests have seen violent police actions, resulting in injuries among participants and arrests in Lisbon.
