Provider urgently requests information from the PSP about police presence in Lisbon and Porto
The Ombudsman urgently requested information from the PSP regarding police actions against protesters in Lisbon and Porto. This follows incidents during housing rights demonstrations where police intervened, resulting in injuries and arrests. The Ombudsman aims to assess the compatibility of police actions with constitutional rights to assembly and protest. The IGAI has also opened an administrative process to investigate the circumstances of these police interventions. Protesters demand changes to housing laws and criticize police actions, while left-wing parties seek accountability from government officials.
