Breakthrough after 52 years. New DNA study reveals another victim of serial killer Ted Bundy.
In 1974, hunters discovered the body of Melissa Ann Smith, the daughter of a police chief in Utah, showing signs of brutal assault. Despite extensive investigations, the case remained unsolved for over fifty years until recent DNA testing linked Ted Bundy to her murder. This breakthrough also connected Bundy to another victim, Laura Ann Aime, murdered in the same year. The sheriff emphasized the importance of preserving evidence over time. Bundy, a notorious serial killer active from 1974 to 1978, was known for manipulating his victims before committing his crimes. He was arrested in 1975 and executed in 1989 after confessing to 30 murders, though estimates suggest the actual number may exceed one hundred.
