Breakthrough in the NBP dispute? Unofficially: The Prime Minister has changed his mind
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk is reportedly set to approve the appointment of four members to the National Bank of Poland's board, marking a significant shift in a long-standing dispute. This decision comes just before the term of one vice president expires. Finance Minister Andrzej Domański communicated Tusk's change of heart during a meeting with NBP President Adam Glapiński. The nominees include former NBP Vice President Marta Kightley and three members of the Monetary Policy Council. Tusk's decision is influenced by the desire to avoid further political conflict and the upcoming credit rating assessment of Poland. Without new appointments, the NBP board would fall below the legal minimum, raising potential legal concerns.
