Przemyśl suspends partnership with Lviv after resolution regarding UPA
On Monday, Przemyśl city council unanimously decided to suspend its partnership with Lviv due to the latter's declaration of 2027 as the year of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA). This decision was made by all 21 council members, who argued that it disrespects the memory of Polish victims of UPA crimes and contradicts the principles of Polish-Ukrainian relations. The resolution mandates the mayor to initiate legal actions to dissolve the partnership agreement signed in 1995, although cooperation could resume if Lviv retracts its decision. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry criticized Lviv's resolution, indicating it could harm relations with Poland, while Prime Minister Donald Tusk expressed confusion over the decision, noting that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was also dissatisfied with it.
