Shipments will be more expensive. New fee

Starting November 1, a €2 handling fee will apply to each item in customs declarations for distance sales from outside the EU. This fee aims to support customs risk analysis and control due to the rise in e-commerce. The fee will be collected by customs authorities, similar to the temporary duty for shipments valued under €150. Since July, the number of such shipments has significantly decreased, with a nearly 50% drop in imports of goods valued under €150 in certain countries. The new customs code, effective September 20, introduces further responsibilities for sellers and platforms regarding customs compliance and data sharing. The aim is to enhance control over goods entering the EU and prevent undervaluation of shipments.
