For 100 years the world has not seen it. Monet's painting sold for an astronomical amount

Claude Monet's painting "Irises" was sold at auction in Paris for 50 million euros, setting a record in the French art market. The artwork, created in 1924-1925, had not been publicly displayed for over a century. Sotheby's announced the auction in late September, predicting a record price. The auction featured other works, including Monet's "Weeping Willow," estimated at 9-12 million euros. The auction, titled "Time Found," focused on pieces from Jeanne Schlumberger's collection, who purchased the paintings from Monet's son. The painting was publicly exhibited for the first time before the sale, having previously only been known through black-and-white photographs.
