At the distributor, relief; in the calendar, a deadline. What next for fuel prices in Poland?
In early January, the average price of Eurosuper 95 gasoline in the EU was €1.605 per liter, rising to €1.991 by mid-October, a 24% increase. Diesel saw a more significant rise, from €1.545 to €2.139, over 38%. In Poland, gasoline prices increased from €1.348 to €1.560, a 16% rise, while diesel rose from €1.418 to approximately €1.79, over 26%. The Polish government implemented a program to lower fuel prices by reducing VAT and excise duties, which has kept prices relatively lower compared to other EU countries. Despite Poland's lower prices, they are influenced by government interventions rather than purely market conditions. The situation remains uncertain as the program is set to end in 2026, and future pricing will depend on global oil prices and tax regulations.
