PS available to promote changes to the law on the right to protest in Parliament

The Secretary-General of the PS expressed willingness to discuss potential amendments to the 1974 law regulating the right to protest, following suggestions from the Attorney General. José Luís Carneiro emphasized the need for parliamentary dialogue, awaiting the majority's will. The Attorney General, Amadeu Guerra, urged the Assembly of the Republic to review the law instead of seeking constitutional oversight, asserting that the law has functioned without significant constitutional challenges. Recent protests for housing rights in Porto and Lisbon faced police intervention, leading to arrests and injuries, prompting inquiries by the Public Ministry regarding police actions.
